Khet (sold separately for iPad) is a chess-like board game that has found its way to mobile devices thanks to Schogini Systems. Unlike addictive games that don’t require much brain-power. Khet requires players to use their critical thinking skills to win the game.
Khet is similar in style to Chess but it involves a laser and simpler rules. Khet offers three modes of play: one player, pass and play and push notification mode. The strategy game offers users four levels of difficulty to choose from if they wish to compete against a computer. Each mode contains three ways to play the game: classic, dynasty and imhotep.
During play, players try to eliminate the opposing player’s pieces with their laser. Similar to protecting the King in chess, players must protect the Pharaoh. If the Pharaoh is hit with a laser, then the player loses and the game ends.
The two Anubis pieces are resistant to lasers from the front, but they can be eliminated if hit from the sides. The beetle pieces are never eliminated from the game, but they contain mirrors on both sides. The six pyramid pieces have a mirror on two sides, but they may be eliminated from the game if hit on the other two sides. The Sphinx piece, which never moves, emits the laser that will eliminate any piece in its path that do not contain mirrors.
During their turn, players may move one piece or rotate a piece one quarter turn. Holding down on a piece gives players the option to rotate it while touching and dragging a piece allows players to move it to a nearby location. Pieces are able to move adjacently or diagonally. Any spot that contains a silver or red marking is designed for only the player of that color.
Players win the game by eliminating the opposing player’s Pharaoh or resigning from the game. An interesting side note to winning: Players must be careful when firing the laser because they can eliminate their own pieces!
Khet is ideal for casual gamers and to those who love chess. The game provides players with a challenging experience. The strategy needed to play Khet makes this game one that will leave players happily puzzled.

Cool
Nice! It doesn’t beat the actual board game, but the portability factor will more than make up for that.
Love this physics-based game.
