Time traveling, space mining, and pirates in space ships: need I say more? Galaxy on Fire 2 HD (universal) is a full-on epic space saga, complete with a sci-fi storyline and a vast universe to explore. Blowing every competitor in the genre out of the water with a plethora of content and some beautiful, beautiful graphics, this Fishlabs masterpiece is not game to be missed.
Galaxy on Fire 2 is first and foremost a technical masterpiece: enhanced for the A5 processor in the iPhone 4s and iPad 2, there aren’t many games which can compete with the graphical prowess of the stars and galaxies of GoF2. The sheer depth of view and detail of the 100 space stations and 30 plus ship models is a high-resolution dream come true for fans of wonderful shooters and space operas.
The amount of content in the game is as impressive as the game’s graphics: there are hundreds of side missions to complete outside the main storyline, and a plethora of equipment upgrades to customize and barter around the universe with. And if players somehow make their way through the dozen or so hours of content, don’t worry: the Valkyrie add-on from the SD version is being remade for this HD version, and is currently slotted for release in March, bringing another several hours of gameplay, complete with new equipment and galaxies.
Whether you’re a huge fan of Space Miner and Asteroids looking for the same experience in full 3D, or a space newbie with a new A5 device looking to explore the final frontier, Galaxy on Fire 2 HD is not a title that will disappoint. Tons of missions, an abundance of customization, and a daunting amount of area to explore, this is a game where’s it easy – and fun – to get lost in space for a long, long time.
