Kitten Sanctuary (universal) is a match-three and pet sim game. Developed by Clockwork Pixels, this family friendly game has players young and young of heart rescuing poor kittens from aliens who have come to Earth to capture them in traps. There is a ton here to keep players occupied for hours
Players rescue cats by completing puzzles and destroying the traps over 100 levels spread across three worlds.
For those not familiar with match-three games, players must match three of the same-colored tiles to clear them from the board. Matches may be made horizontally, diagonally and vertically.
In this particular game, the tiles that are highlighted in red must be removed to complete each level. A high score is achieved based on how quickly players complete puzzles and for combos. There are power-up tiles scattered throughout the levels. Players can go back to previous levels at any time to try and achieve a higher score.
Success either frees a kitten or prevents aliens from building traps. The rescued kittens are placed in a sanctuary where kids can interact with them. Clearing red tiles earns supplies like food and water to help keep the cats happy. When the kittens are unhappy, they may run away from the sanctuary. However, gamers can rescue them from the aliens later in the game
Levels become complicated as gamers progress in Kitten Sanctuary. Locked tiles, double red tiles and crates are introduced to make the game challenging. The three game modes add an even bigger challenge to the game. For instance, Easy Going mode allows players to match tiles in unlimited time, Normal mode puts a time limit on puzzles and tricky Mode adds extra red energy tiles to all the levels.
Gamers earn coins while matching tiles, which allows them to make purchases in the store. Purchases range from toys to decorations for the sanctuary. The game does not have any in-app purchases, which makes it kid-safe.
The developers spent time to make separate levels on both iPhone and iPad screens so that gamers really get the full experience without paying for two separate versions. The graphics are incredibly detailed, and they look vibrant on retina displays. The animations and sound effects combine with the graphics to make a polished and quality game.
I highly recommended Kitten Sanctuary. It’s a game that players of all ages will enjoy. The adorable kittens and the sim component and lack of in-app purchases make it game well worth the low purchase price.
