The U.S. National Parks are amazing places to visit, and each one sees a few million visitors each year. If you’re planning on visiting one in the future, check out National Parks by National Geographic (iPhone and iPod touch only) with travel guides to the major National Parks. The app acts as an inspirational travel guide to plan your visit, as well as an interactive utility during your visit. The app provides basic park info and camping info for each of the included parks for free, and you can buy a full travel guide ranging from $0.99-1.99 per park. You get to download one travel guide for free, which will help many this year.
The guide itself features what to see, what to do, park secrets, and photo tips with each section offering deluxe information. The what to see & do sections let you know the best ways to spend your time at the park with information from those who have visited. The park secrets are little factoids, while the camera tips provide very detailed position, lens, and exposure settings to capture great shots. The entire app is brought to you by National Geographic with the help of Canon, and you can really appreciate their tips.
The National Parks app also features a brilliant interface with flowing photos and sections as well as a sliding tab similar to the one seen in the Facebook app. Once you start using the app, there’s so much to appreciate, just like arriving at the actual National Parks. There are plenty of customization features beginning with the ability to add anything to an itinerary to plan out your entire trip using all of the information the app provides.
There are built-in maps related to your iPhone’s GPS allowing you to easily travel to various points and interests once your itinerary becomes a reality. The app is an exceptional resource to have for the parks that are included, but there are only 20 parks included despite the U.S. having a total of 58 parks.
National Parks by National Geographic is one of the best travel guides in the App Store that is the perfect resource for your vacation this year while planning and visiting a popular national park. The one free guide may be all you need this year, but at only $0.99 or $1.99, the other guides are well worth it to. We just wish all 58 parks had these deluxe guides, and not just 20.
