Photography has found a new home on iOS, and there’s a few reasons why. Your iOS device is more often with you than a camera, it’s easy to sync and share from a connected device, and then there are all of those apps. There seems be new photo and video apps released on a daily basis, and Popsicolor from Tinrocket is one of the newest.
These third party apps offer up all new creative pathways, and Popsicolor is no different. The app provides water color style effects for your photos whether they’re imported or taken right there.
Once the photo is added in, the app automatically applies the effect, and the results are artistic to say the least. You then have ten colors to choose from for the top and bottom half of the photo. The colors are based on popsicles so you can apply red watermelon, yellow lemonade, purple boysenberry and more.
The two colors merge in the middle, and the results always provide a whole new way to look at those original photos. The app also supports choosing the intensity of the effect, and it’s so neat to see the highlights of your effect in a brand new light, or color.

The app is relatively straightforward and simplistic, but it offers up a completely original effect that is executed extremely well. There are some load times, which can be a bit tedious when switching just one color at a time, but the resulting photo is well worth any wait. It would be nice to see more sharing options built-in as you can only save to camera roll, copy, or e-mail. Also a simple preview option would help before picking your colors and waiting for the change to be applied.
Popsicolor offers up one feature, and absolutely nails it making it worth picking up to create some great looking artistic photos that really pop.
