Spin Art is a classic pastime because it’s fun, messy, and creates some seriously interesting results. Since it doesn’t require artistic skill, it opens up artistic avenues to anyone. But the mess isn’t essential, and that’s why 7twenty7′s SpinArtX (universal) is such a great app for taking Spin Art into the digital third dimension.
Each piece begins by spinning the canvas on the x, y, and z axis allowing your canvas to spin horizontally, vertically, and diagonally. The extra dimension opens up brand new artistic expressions, and it begins with just a single finger on screen. The color emanates from your finger, with a simple drag across the canvas to change the color input.
There are 54 colors to choose from or the random color brush to create 3D rainbows. No two drawings will ever be the same – by drawing with lines, dots, or the combination of the two, a plethora of different designs can be created. It’s amazing to see the artwork take shape with such simple input, and then you can sit back and watch your creation continue to spin.
The app has three modes with spin, paint, and view which can be switched between to enjoy the art. The app lets users make cosmic looking creations with their fingertip without the mess, a great showcase for the clarity and power of your iOS device. The app is really just pure fun – the neon colors on the black background are gorgeous, and viewing the colorful lines in motion is even greater than viewing the great still shots.
