Alien Sky (iPhone) from BrainFever Media is another in a long line of powerful photo editing tools for the iPhone. But Alien Sky isn’t a regular photo editor like Instagram or Studio Lab – it’s a photo effects app that is truly out of this world.
In a nutshell, Alien Sky lets users add space objects to your photos, and create surreal images that will conjure of memories of many famous science fiction images. In one picture, we added Saturn above a house, but adding planets is only the tip of the galactical iceberg. There are numerous galaxies and comets to the view up the street, or multiple moons to the sky above your backyard.
There’s really no limit to what you can create with over 70 different space objects to integrate into new or existing photos. There are also gradient filters and lens flares effects to further create realistic, high-definition images with crisp background effects.
It’s amazing how well the effects fit into the different photos, even for completely unbelievable objects like massive planets over bridges or black holes in mid-air. The interface is as simple as can be expected allowing you to drag to position, and punch to change the size of the objects.
The color tint, brightness, and filter effect are controlled within the settings of the image, and once it’s all edited and ready to go, they can be shared from right within the app, or exported in beautiful high-resolution.
Some photo effect apps are too gimmicky and artifical to create memorable images, but Alien Sky (iPhone) is not one of those, a fun little app to have on your iPhone that can create very interesting and great-looking photos.
