Earlier this week, we reviewed Goal Defense (universal), a tower defense game with beautiful art design and a fun atmosphere of sports-related humor. To celebrate the 2012 London Olympics, developer Dynamic Pixels have made it free, and are giving away a $50 iTunes right here at AppTudes to a lucky winner who helps them with their next update!
Entering is simple, but first things first: if you haven’t downloaded a copy of Goal Defense yet, go check it out in the App Store. To enter, simply leave your name below with a suggestion for who the next evil red sportsman should be, and what special abilities/skills you’d like to see them have. The winner with the best suggestion will be selected by us, and awarded a $50 iTunes gift card from the developers.

I want to win ! Thank u!
My Name is Alex Ling.
Suggestion: Add Werewolf red sportsman, who has superpower in Night theme stages.
i’d like to see a darts player!
Obviously he’ll be able to attack with darts and once in a few shots he might cause some serious pain if he’s able to hit bulls eye!
Marley Listmann
The next evil red sportsman should be a super Buff, crazy looking Jock, who throws weights at your towers. He’d be massive compared to others, and have glowing red eyes. His movement would be very slow though, so you had enough time to stop him.
The next evil red sportsman should be a tennis player that serves tennis balls at the blue team, and can also hit with the tennis racket. Special abilities could include a power-up animation and a multi-serve attack where multiple tennis balls are fired off in a barrage, or a single tennis ball which is more damaging than normal. Another ability could include a lob type attack where multiple tennis balls are lobbed in the air and rain down on the blue team, or a single tennis ball is lobbed in the air and falls to the ground hard, causing damage to surrounding blue team members.
The next red evil:
Hockey keeper… The ability is defense for red team…and sometimes can injured the blue team if he is angry…different with karate guy, if the player knock out by this player is never coming back…characteristic big guy, if he is angry become green like hulk…but he is really slow.
Other is a female player, whar I think is a sexy ballerina girl, who show her panties, make all the blue team stop for 3s, no gentleman can beat this girl except the one with parrot…
1.Survival mode :unlimited levels.
2.New towers:Throwing darts, throw Basket ball, kick football.A coach OR cheerleader(give bonus attack damage or attack speed to the towers surrounding)
3.some time the background sound is annoying(I mean the spectators ), but I want to hear my towers attacking enemys, hope u guys can divide the sound button into “sound” and “background music”
^ ^wish I can get the gift card~
About the evil red sportsman.
1. Hurdler: He can jump over all the tower. This means he go straight to the trophy. To make the game balanced ,each of his jump needs a short cooldown.
2. High Jumper: He can do a big jump with the stick and land on the ground 6 or 7 blocks after.(Just means he can fly through the first 7 blocks)
3. ????: A boss which can attack the towers, appears at the last wave.(Don’t know which sport to choose, Discus throw,Hockey,Hammer throw,Taekwondo,Wrestling, etc )
I want to win ! Thanks a lot
Add a basketball player!
He throws basketballs at the blue team, and his abilities include a dribbling move where he spins around quickly (giving him a chance to dodge attacks), and a slam dunk move where the targeted blue player is stunned for a duration of time.
Btw, forgot to mention, the basketballs he throws at the blue team will each have a chance to stun the player that is being targeted.
New idea…why don’t add the blue archer that can attack from far away, and target the enemy in particular area…when updgrade the player, the archer can target more than one area…
I would like the next evil red sportsman to be Pokemon trainer. It’s a trainers that carry a Pokedex/special crystal balls with them, which serves as identification as well as a tool for keeping track of the Pokémon a Trainer has seen or caught.
Likewise, you can add it by giving him special crystal balls (each specializing in a specific type of balls) which will be awesome. If you can, add special badges of achievement for the next evil red sportsman.
I am desperately waiting for another update. Thanks.
A hang glider that flys up in the sky seperately from the ground forces. The only way from getting the glider to the trophy is a new turret. Maybe a confetti turret like the ones you see when a wrestler comes into the match on tv. When you destroy his glider, he falls to the ground and continues as a soldier that fits in with the round, like if you destroy his glider in a jogger level, he continues as a jogger. Thanks for reading!
Perhaps a skydiver? He would jump down from the sky and land randomly among your blue players. In order to balance out this ability, he would have to have low health (so if he lands near the Golden Bowl he’ll be relatively easy to take out). His special ability would be to use his parachute to cover a blue player, making that blue player unable to attack for a period of time.
I would choose a referee. A whistle blowing, flag holding, biased opinion throwing(i doubt you could show this in the game) enemy. Swinging blue and white flags to his right, sharp whistle sounds that stuns towers to his left! A special move could be that he stuns every tower with his annoying opinions for a second or two. Perfect addition to the mean red team!
The next evil red sportsman should be a dodgeball player. A player that is adept in throwing balls at other players heads and stunning them momentarily.
For additional enemies, I would vote for cyclists that moves faster than runners. Two options for special ability. One or both can be applicable.
1. You will need to beat him twice. Once to get him off the bicycle and a second time to beat him. Once he is off the bike he will move at a slower speed.
2. The speed of the cyclists will depend on the number of cyclists in the group. The more in a row the faster for the group due to wind drafting of each other.
I must say I really enjoyed the game thus far!
The levels presented a definite level of challenge and the whole sports-theme really gives the Tower Defense Genre quite a new spin! (I played till the second “world” so I did see the referee/cheerleader towers being unlocked)
PS: If there can only be ONE entry as in ONE character, please use my Ice Skater suggestion
Here are some of my thoughts on a new RED opponent:
(1) Billard Player – Firstly, I would recommend having a number of him. What is interesting about the Billard Player is that when he is defeated, he will hit the billard balls and launch 8 smaller enemies (in form of billard balls) for the player to defeat. The interesting part comes when the Billard Player is defeated near the Trophy! The player really has got to plan a strategy so that the Billard Player is defeated early. (I can’t think of another sport that has this one-hit-multiplier effect)
(2) Female Ice Skater (a.k.a. the Ice Queen!) – The mean red team needs a beauty to spice up their image so let’s give them a real Mean Girl! Her main attack and special ability would be her “Spin-On-Ice”, doing so will cause surrounding towers to freeze (represented by an ice-block over them. alternatively, the various towers can be seen to be shivering and can’t attack. ). In order to unfreeze/warm the towers, the player has to tap on the afflicted towers (furiously) until the ice/cold breaks away. Her movement should be slow as she takes time to make graceful movement. Her health is low but her evasion is extremely high as she can skate (gracefully) to block attacks.
(3) Improvement to the Rugby Player – The Rugby Player can also be made into a powerful boss opponent with some tweaks. If the opponent has a cheerleader among his ranks, the Rugby Players would combine (by mid-screen) into their Rugby Horde Formation that makes them extremely difficult to defeat. They will be able to bull doze through any obstacles on the field when fully formed up.
And one last non-contest related suggestion – I hope the game can have a Bestiary! All the characters are wonderfully designed and beautifully made. After defeating some of the bossess/opponents, I really wanted to read about them. Unfortunately, the game, in its current form, does not allow that. I hope there will be a Bestiary for us to read up about the different opponents (profile, background, strengths, weaknesses, abilities) and even the different concept art leading to the creation of the characters.
That’s all! Goal Defense has been a game that fell below the radar! It deserves more coverage and attention!
The next evil red sportsman should be a quidditch player! He will come on a broom (hence being quick) and attack by hitting bludgers(iron balls) with his club! Thus we shall have magic and sports fun!
The next evil red sportsman should be a hammer player. He can do a super spin like a tornado, and throw all enemies away along with his hammer.
