During yesterday’s EA Summer Showcase press conference, all of the newest games from the company were on display, including Mass Effect 3 on the Wii U and FIFA 13 on the iPad. But the unexpected highlight of the afternoon was the release of the Real Racing 3 trailer, and along with it, a few announcements on what will be in the new game.
So what should people expect when it hits iOS later this year? The trailer doesn’t give away a whole lot of information, but former Firemint CEO Rob Murray (who is part of the newly-formed Firemonkeys team under EA’s umbrella) was willing to part with a few details for us all to drool over.
First off, Porsche, Audi, and Dodge will have multiple licensed vehicles in the game (no word on if there will be anymore, at this point in time). There’s also going to be real-life tracks like Laguna Seca included, and each race will feature 22 cars, an astonishingly high number (at best, Real Racing 2 could handle 16). It’ll come packed with both online and offline modes, and will hit sometime closer to the holidays, we would assume.
One thing we do know about Racing 3 whenever it releases: it will continue to push the iOS hardware – especially the iPhone 5 and new iPad – and hopefully raise the bar again for the racing genre in the App Store. Keep your eyes peeled: no release date was given, but the game is set to hit the App Store later this year.

Good!
