At AppTudes, we love giving stuff away, but we’ve got to have some rules about it. Here’s the fine print:
For Twitter contestants you must follow @apptudes and include @apptudes in the tweet. We can no longer do shout-outs to find winners. We need to get these codes out while they are fresh and we all live in different time zones. From now on, if you are not following us and you win, we will redraw.
Promo Code Giveaways
Sometimes developers and publishers are kind enough to donate promo codes for us to pass on to our readers. Promo codes can expire, so if you win one use it quickly. If they are not redeemed within 48 hours of their being sent they may become void.
AppTudes will act as a “middleman”, of sorts, by passing those codes along to you, but we are not responsible for them.
If you win one here, and it doesn’t work, let us know, and we’ll do everything we can to help you, but we don’t generate or control them, so we will not be able to replace them for their cash value.
Promo Codes, unless specified, can be redeemed in all App Stores where the app is available for sale.
Sometimes, for promotional purposes or just because we love apps and love sharing them, AppTudes proper will give out free gift copies without the consent or knowledge of the developers or publishers.
It will be clearly marked in all contest posts whether we have codes or a gift copies, so please pay attention.
Gift Apps from Apptudes are our responsibility, but we can only send them to people who have US or Canadian iTunes accounts. And the same rule applies as for codes
This isn’t because we don’t love everyone, everywhere (we do), it’s simply a matter of which App Stores we have access to. Sorry. If Apple figures out international gift giving is a way to make money, we’ll change the policy, but for now that’s the way it has to be. If a winner does not claim or contact within 48 hours the contest may become void.
Also please note, since our primary account is Canadian, winners in the Great White North, for a change, will get their prizes very quickly. Usually within 24-48 hours unless otherwise noted.
But, for US winners we have to ask for your patience. We will get you your gift, but arranging it may take a few days. Please don’t worry about it, or spam, post, tweet, etc.
You are always welcome to check in by emailing email@example.com, but we ask for your patience until we secure a permanent US solution.
iTunes Gift Cards
Sometimes developers will host promotions where you can win gift cards. When the review or contest post says the gift is from the developer, they bear sole responsibility for delivery and validity.
If, however, you have discovered an Apptudes contest here, on Twitter (follow us @apptudes) or on our Facebook page where we will also have special contests, and we say the gift card is from us, then, of course we are responsible for it, but the same conditions and restrictions apply as to the Gift Apps above.
Periodically developers will have special contests where you can win things like subscriptions to premium services, accessories, t-shirts, and other swag.
Those contests will be explained fully in their post and the prizes will be delivered and will be the sole responsibility of those holding the contest. We will simply be promoting, not providing.
The contests may be exclusive to AppTudes or open to everyone everywhere and widely promoted by the developer on various sites or any other means they chose, but it won’t be us doing the giving.
A final note about how we get all this stuff
AppTudes will either reach out to developers or developers will contact us when they have a hot new app or game.
The general procedure is that they provide Apptudes with a test copy, at no charge, for review purposes.
When appropriate and possible they may donate extra codes for giveaways.
All opinions you see will be the honest opinion of the author in question.
Good luck to all!
* Apptudes does not accept payment for reviews.
